About Us
Texas Alliance for Life is a statewide, nonprofit, pro-life organization of people committed to protecting innocent human life from conception to natural death using peaceful, legal means. We are based in the Texas capital.
Texas Alliance for Life is the official state contact for Choose Life, Inc., the national organization devoted to getting the Choose Life license plates on the road in all 50 states.
Texas Alliance for Life has been in existence for 20 years. We have been extensively involved in lobbying the Texas Legislature for pro-life laws. Among the successful laws we helped to pass are the Parental Notification Act (1999), the Prenatal Protection Act (2003), the Women's Right to Know Act (2003), the parental consent law (2005), the ban on third trimester abortions (2005), $2.5 million per year for alternatives to abortion since 2006, and $5 million for adult (not embryonic) stem cell activities (2007). We have helped to defeat numerous anti-life measures, including some intended to repeal abortion facility health standards.
We also actively defend pro-life laws when they are attacked in the courts. We have filed friend-of-the-court briefs in all appellate state courts in Texas including the Texas Supreme Court, the Court of Criminal Appeals, and all 14 courts of appeals. We've also successfully defended a Texas law to prevent tax dollars from going to Planned Parenthood in the federal Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans.
